Winter Wonderland Above Interlaken
A heart-pounding winter adventure to the summit of Niederhorn awaits you, where breathtaking panoramas of Interlaken and Lake Thun are just the beginning!
Timeline
Departure
Catch a bus from Interlaken Ost station to Beatenberg village.
Start of Hike
Hit the trail from Beatenberg, following the path that leads towards the summit of Niederhorn. Keep your eyes peeled for Chamois, the local mountain goats, as you hike through the winter wonderland.
Midway Point
Continue along the trail until you reach Unterburgfeld, a scenic alpine farm.
Scenic View
Take a well-deserved snack break and soak in the views before tackling the final leg.
Ascent
Conquer the Güggis ridge, the final push to reach the summit of Niederhorn.
Continuing the Hike
At the top, celebrate your accomplishment with breathtaking panoramas and a delicious lunch.
Descent
Take a thrilling sled ride back down to Beatenberg (alternative: walk down if you prefer)
Return
Relax and enjoy the scenic bus ride back to Interlaken Ost station.

The hike includes bus tickets from Interlaken Ost station to Beatenberg and back, as well as cable car tickets (if necessary).
The guide will adjust the itinerary based on the local weather forecast.
The hike is 10 km (6.2 miles) with an ascent of 800 meters (2,625 feet). Be prepared for moderate physical exertion.
The descent from the summit is by sled, but if you don't feel comfortable, walking down is an option.
The Unterburgfeld farm is a viewpoint but will be closed during winter, so pack your snacks accordingly.
